How to care for your bamboo seamless socks
Share
Quick summary: Cold wash, gentle cycle, use a laundry bag and air dry to keep them soft, and simply trim off any soft, loose threads.
You've found socks they'll actually wear, so now you need to make sure they last the distance!
The first thing you'll notice when you touch I Hate Socks socks is just how soft they feel. This is because they're made with a high bamboo blend to create that ultra-soft, seamless feel that sensitive kids need.
While this softness is exactly what sets our socks apart from regular socks, it also means they'll need a little extra love when caring for them.
Washing instructions to keep them looking (and feeling) their best
We know the socks will likely end up being tossed in amongst your regular washing (we're busy parents too, we get it!), but taking these few extra steps could make all the difference to how long your socks last.
- Turn them inside out before washing
- Place them in a laundry bag
- Wash with other soft items
- Avoid washing with towels, rough fabric such as denim jeans, Velcro, zippers etc
- Use a cold, gentle wash cycle
- Air dry whenever possible
If you have to use a dryer, keep them in the laundry bag and use a low heat setting.
What to do with a loose thread
Bamboo fibres are incredibly soft and gentle (which is why kids love it), especially when wet. This is why the extra care is needed rather than just throwing them in the washing machine.
When they rub against rougher items like towels, zips or velcro in the washing machine, the friction can pull a small loop of thread to the surface.
The good news is that this is usually cosmetic, not structural and the threads are still so fine that even the most sensitive of kids will barely notice!
If you spot a loose thread, there's a simple fix - simply trim it carefully. Do not pull it, as pulling can cause the knit to shift.
Why the extra care matters
We designed these socks for kids who have told us (in no uncertain terms) that that regular socks just don't cut it. Every little detail is focused on comfort, from the seamfree feel at the toes, to the heel that doesn't bunch - and finally, the super soft material.
That softness is what really makes the difference, and a little extra care helps preserve it.

FAQs
Are loose threads a fault?
No. Seeing a small loose thread is normal with soft bamboo fibres. It does not affect the strength or comfort of the sock. If your child (or you!) find it annoying, you just need to trim it carefully.
Can I put the socks in the dryer?
Yes, but air drying is preferred. If you must use a dryer, keep them in a laundry bag and use low heat.
Why use a laundry bag?
It protects the socks from rubbing against rough items like towels, zips and Velcro, which helps preserve their softness.
Will they last as long as regular socks?
Absoluely - we designed them to actually outlast regular socks! With proper care, they are designed to last and stay comfortable wash after wash. The extra cushioning in the sole of the foot also increases the durability of each sock.
